Do you actually have 460V single-phase?

Most residential and light commercial service in the U.S. is 120/240V single-phase. The NH Series is specifically for facilities that receive 460V (or 480V) single-phase service from their utility. This is less common and typically found at:

• Rural industrial properties — served by high-voltage distribution
• Large farms — some rural utilities deliver 480V single-phase for irrigation
• Industrial parks — where 480V single-phase drops are available
• Facilities with 480V single-phase service upgrades

If your service is 230V single-phase (the most common situation), you need the NL Series (for 230V equipment) or NLT Series (for 460V equipment). Check your utility meter and your main panel to confirm your service voltage before ordering.

Who uses the NH Series?

• Large irrigation systems — rural utilities sometimes deliver 460V single-phase
• Grain elevators and feed mills — heavy industrial 460V loads on rural service
• Industrial facilities on 460V utility drops
• Mining and quarry operations with 460V single-phase service

NH vs NLT

Both the NH and NLT Series output 460V three-phase. The difference is the input:

• NH Series: Takes 460V single-phase input. No transformer needed because input and output voltage are the same.
• NLT Series: Takes 230V single-phase input, transforms to 460V three-phase output. Built-in step-up transformer.
