DualZone Series Phase Converters
The DualZone Series provides two independent output zones from a single converter — letting you power separate machines or circuits with individual disconnects, all from one unit. Built with a NEMA 4 weatherproof enclosure for outdoor, barn, and washdown environments.
Two machines. One converter.
The DualZone is designed for situations where you need to run two separate pieces of equipment from a single phase converter but want independent shutoffs — or where you have equipment in two different physical locations in the same shop.
- Barns and agricultural buildings — outdoor-rated, moisture-resistant
- Outdoor pump stations — NEMA 4 handles direct weather exposure
- Food processing facilities — washdown-safe enclosure
- Shops with separate machine zones — welding area + machining area
- Two-bay garage shops — independent disconnects for each bay
- Agricultural facilities — barn equipment + outdoor irrigation
Dual Output Zones Explained
Each DualZone unit provides two separate three-phase output terminals with independent contactors. You can turn one zone off without affecting the other. This is useful when:
- You want to lock out one machine for maintenance without shutting down the converter
- One machine has a problem and you need to isolate it while continuing to run the other
- You want to run different machinery in different parts of a building
- Electrical code requires individual disconnects for each piece of equipment
NEMA 4 vs Standard Enclosures
NEMA 4 means the enclosure is rated for:
- Dust-tight — no dust ingress under any conditions
- Watertight — can withstand hose-directed water (washdown)
- Rain-tight — suitable for direct outdoor installation (covered)
- Corrosion-resistant steel construction
All Phoenix converters use NEMA 4 enclosures as standard. The DualZone is notable for adding dual output zone capability to this already-rugged platform.
Key Features
- Two independent output zones — individual contactors and terminals
- NEMA 4 steel enclosure — weatherproof, washdown-safe
- 230V single-phase input → 230V three-phase output
- TEFC cast-iron idler motor
- Lifetime transferable warranty
- Made in Phoenix, Arizona
Sizing the DualZone
Size for the total combined load of both zones. Use the largest machine's full multiplier plus a reduced factor for the second machine.
Example: Farm Building
Zone A: 10 HP irrigation pump (very hard load)
10 × 2.5 = 25 HP base
Zone B: 5 HP grain auger (medium load)
5 × 0.75 = 3.75 HP added
Total: 28.75 HP → Choose 30 HP DualZone
Example: Machine Shop
Zone A: 15 HP lathe (medium load)
15 × 1.5 = 22.5 HP base
Zone B: 10 HP mill (hard load)
10 × 1.0 = 10 HP added
Total: 32.5 HP → Choose 40 HP DualZone
